Our China-based JV company, Xi’an Refra Tungsten & Molybdenum Co., Ltd (under Western Metal Materials), relocated its facility from Baoji to Xi’an Industrial Zone while successfully upgrading the mill line with important additions that include two heavy duty mills - a 950mm four-roller mill unit and an 800mm six-roller mill unit. With the recent completion of new upgrades, Western Metal Materials has become the only facility in China equipped to produce high-quality, large size plates with excellent uniformity. The real driving force behind the uniform density is the torque, not the horsepower. Compared to a small shop setup, our end mills are designed to run at a high torque and can therefore generate better performing products. The higher torque could also reduce repeated forging steps, thus saving processing time and warranting a more competitive cost base to benefit our end customers. The two large size grades of semi-finished products are supplied as base materials for sputtering targets for TFT-LCD screens and the sapphire crystal growth sectors. With the two new mills, the existing 2,800mm hot roller, and relocated refractory metal production line, we currently have an annual output of 450 tons of high-quality molybdenum and tungsten semi-finished products.Company Events
